The
week has come to a close and the excitement of seeing what’s to come has been
an thrilling visual overload...
Here
are some of our favourite collections and our favourite front rowers...
Akira
Presented at The Box, Akira never fails to impress with his signature prints and colour on modern-oriental design. His traditional design with a theatrical twist were shown in two stories running through the collection. One was an all white (bridal appropriate) capsule featuring appliqué dresses with incredible tulle head wraps. The second theme were printed Japanese patterns and blooms combined with tropical florals featured on kimono style dresses. The outfits were completed with these amazing oversized feature neckpieces. Truly original and truly Akira. And that’s why we loved it.
Bowie
This
was the “collection of his dreams”. There were fishtails, horse hair, metallic
stitching with embellishment on a monochromatic colour palatte. No need for
colour to make a bold statement... The design and fabric spoke volumes. Styled by
LA-based Australian stylist Sophia Banks Coloma... Bowie’s collection was
breathtaking.
Jenny
Kee
Yes
she is back! It may have been 20 years since her last solo show. But Jenny Kee
certainly brought back her iconic graphics with her SS12/13 collection. There
were hyper coloured turbans, draped dresses, Aboriginal abstract patterns. Co-collaborating
with the Romance Was Born duo Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett who styled and
brought the bling with jewelled neckpieces, earrings, cuffs, and coloured
Melissa pumps. We
love a come-back, especially when it comes in the form of a print-party.
Kirrily
Johnston
We
loved this collection by Kirrily. It was shown off site at Sydney restaurant
Neild Ave and with it’s industrial interior, made it the perfect backdrop for
the collection. Inspired by Romanian gypsies... featuring sexy silhouettes in
neutrals, magenta, white, black and chartreuse. The outfits look like a second
skin and have been styled with the most amazing statement jewellery and
headscarves.
Romance
Was Born
No words needed
really.
Favourite front rowers
Susie Bubble, Whitney Port and Gray Gardens. Too
cool.
Ok,
now time for some champagne.
