Although, it never left. Black really is our favourite colour... And no one does it better than Zambesi. Every season, without a doubt, Zambesi
takes us on adventure of black, texture, some more black and cutting edge
design. Instantly recognisable, but never dull and always evolving. The
ultimate in cult labels. Black never dies, it always reinvents, as does
Zambesi.

From Paris with love... Lubin Perfume
Lubin perfume is one of the oldest perfume houses in the world - with its
history linking to the high-society of the Napoleonic era... The product was an
indicator and reflection of social hierarchy.
Founded in 1798 by Pierre François Lubin, who began supplying 'scented
ribbons, rice powderballs and masks to "Les Merveilleuses," socially
exulted women who frequented Thermidorian drawing rooms of Napoleonic France;
and the "Incroyables," members of the subculture that mixed fashion
and propaganda which emerged following the terror that was the immediate
aftermath of the French Revolution of 1789.'
Worn by the likes of Joséphine and Pauline Bonaparte, as well as Queen
Marie-Amelie and Marie Antoinette. If you were a crowned head of that time, you
wore Lubin perfume.
Today, the perfume house still maintains the exclusive scent and superior
quality, however it is now available to us regular folk. We may not have a
crown on our head, but it sure does make us feel like royalty. When you wear
Lubin perfume, you are wearing history.

Back in PINK....
A few posts ago we showed you some BTS photos of the 'New PINK'... We have
settled into our new home, and we must say, we do love our new space. The art
on the wall is by artist Lisa T, who just finished interning with Romance Was
Born. The flooring is by Missoni. Quotes from David Bowie and Marilyn Monroe
inspire on the walls. The interior is sophisticated, but still maintains the
PINK quirky charm... AND in designer news, we have secured luxury label McQ by
Alexander McQueen... Heaven.
Pink Ink is our fashion wonderland... We do hope you'll join us on our
adventure.

La Romance...
If there is one thing
we do religiously at PINK everyday, it’s that we have to light a candle. There
is something so wonderfully mood elevating and calming about smelling the sweet
scent and watching the flicker of the flame from a candle. It's so a part of
us, that we even light one as soon as we get home.
So you can imagine our
excitement when one of our favourite PINK designers, Romance Was Born
collaborated with Elise Pioch, creator of candle house Maison Balzac to create
LA ROMANCE... Think of bitter orange zest and cedar leaf, fir needles, crushed
cypress and Peru balsam and patchouli... The scent is perfect for the
Autumn/Winter season.
Treat yourself, light
one, sit in your favourite chair with your favourite magazine and indulge in a
La Romance.

Oh, how do we even
start to introduce our newest Parisian designer to join the coveted labels at

Each bag is designed
to be like your 'perfect match' - designed to fit perfectly into your

Pink... On display.
Last week we reflected
on the past windows of Pink... This week, with our last days on this side of
Lonsdale Street, we thought it only appropriate to reflect on the changing
displays in store. So many seasons have been and gone, and now, as we enter the
new season, we close our doors on the past ten years and step bravely into the
next ten. We promise to bring you many more colourful and inspiring displays... and we will continue to deliver a different way of seeing the world.

Peek a Pink......
Pink Ink... We have had ten wonderful years at number 23.
Ten years of changing
seasons.. Ten years of changing in store displays, window displays and many a
chair collected and shown-off in store. The running theme over the past ten
years, is... Well... Change.
And so, as we prepare
to embark on our new adventure, to pave the way, yet again. We reflect on some
of our favourite window displays over the past few years.
Thank you for peeking
in at night. To see the store still alive through the spotlighted mannequins.
We look forward to you being a part our world when we re-open our doors in
late March.

Pick me up PURPLE...
With London Fashion
Week happening as we speak, we thought it appropriate to celebrate the new season
and the change in colour trends.
This new season, so far,
has seen one colour shine... Purple. This rich, luxurious and opulent feeling hue, is the perfect segue from the Summer season to Autumn... Still bright enough to
ease us from the bold prints of Summer, but rich enough to make us want to
embrace the soon-to-be golden falling leaves and darker sky above.
......Some of our
favourites.

New Season, New Loves.
The great thing about
fashion is that it is constantly changing, and with that comes the opportunity
to reinvent... The new Autumn/Winter 2013 season is creeping its way in
store. One of our first deliveries was from By Malene Birger. The creative,
sophisticated chic designs have made the start to the new season feel very promising
and full of hope – Change, wonder, excitement.
Here is a peek. Shoes
by Hoss and Pedro Garcia.

Spring 2013 Couture Shows...
We love Paris at this
time of year... It is time for the most spectacular
show of the season... Here is our review of our top
three favourite Couture shows.
Chanel...
No big deal, Karl
Lagerfeld only created an actual forest in the Grand Palais for the Chanel 2013
Spring/Summer Couture Show. Yes, that's right. Tree by tree. Guests of the show
wandered until they found a classical amphitheater. Karl Lagerfeld was
"dreaming of Weimar, sylvan hub of German Romanticism in the late eighteenth
century, home to Goethe and Schiller." This romance infused itself into
the couture collection through glitter and shine, with looks varying from
armour like to fichu-like. There were sparkling daytime tweeds and the
silhouette, as described by Lagerfeld, was decided by a feature called
"frame shoulders." We love.
Christian Dior...
Delicate beading,
embroidered and appliquéd blooms, a reference to Audrey Hepburn, sleek
construction and a wearability to couture that isn't always seen. This is a
collection you want in your wardrobe. Now. With inspiration taken from
Christian Dior's love of the countryside and the garden he would retreat to.
Raf Simons has definitely portrayed the rebirth we all love about Spring, fresh
colours, floral features and new beginnings.
Valentino...
Usually when you think
of Couture, you think of how much it costs. But in the case of Valentino's
Couture Collection Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli made sure that
each person viewing the show understood the human cost. With notes on each seat
detailing just how much time went in to creating the beautiful couture that
walked down the runway. Apparently it took 500 hours of hand-rolling to produce
the piping - for one outfit. And it was told that a roller developed carpal
tunnel syndrome during the production. There is also an organza jacket and
skirt that took 850 hours to embroider. A labour of love is an understatement.
But what it is nice to show is that with every piece of clothing, no matter
couture or not, someone has worked hard to produce it.

Ich liebe dich... Berlin Fashion Week.
The
temperature might be freezing, but the fashion sure is not. Berlin is fast
becoming THE fashion hot spot for its arty, edgy and grungy scene. We love that
this city doesn’t walk around with a big smile on its face. It is ‘Berliner
chic’ with honesty. Like that ruthless friend you love to have. Right now,
fashions who’s who are walking the streets – Here for one important reason... Fashion
Week.
While
the designs on the catwalk are grabbing international attention, so are the
styles on the street. We share some of our favourite street style moments, as
shot by photographer Maxime Ballesteros...

Diane Von Furstenberg’s Australian Penthouse...
When we think of
Summer we often think of glorious holiday escapes to somewhere where the sun is
shining, the waves are crashing and the cocktails are flowing. A place where we
can wear fabulous frocks and spend our evenings watching the sunset from an amazing
balcony with a stunning view. Usually this is when our alarm rings and we
realise it’s time to go to work. Although, this isn’t the case for ‘fashion’s
fairy godmother’, who has made all of our daydreams her fabulous reality. Diane
von Furstenberg has opened the new DVF penthouse at Hayman Island Resort. The
style icon has collaborated with the hotel to create a penthouse that’s
luxurious, spacious and a world to make all your own. It boasts views over
Hayman Beach to the crystal waters of the Coral Sea. The interior showcases the
designer’s signature prints and patterns, which are used in the rugs,
accessories and textiles and the walls feature the designer’s personal
photographic art.
We have already
mentally packed our bags........
