Delicious gingerbread men…

There is something rather wonderful about baking. It is the perfect stress release and a lovely way to bond with your family or it's even great for some self therapy.
Below is a delicious gingerbread man recipe that will sure to be a hit this festive season...

Ingredients:

125g butter, softened
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 tablespoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup white chocolate melts

Method:

Using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add maple syrup and egg. Beat to combine.

Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon over butter mixture. Using a wooden spoon, stir until just combined and a soft dough forms. Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead gently until smooth. Shape into a disc. Wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.

Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Line 3 baking trays with baking paper. Roll dough between 2 sheets of baking paper until 5mm thick. Using a 6.5cm-long, 7cm-wide gingerbread man cutter, cut shapes from dough. Re-roll dough scraps and cut to make a total 30 gingerbread men. Place, 2cm apart, on prepared trays.

Bake 1 tray at a time for 20 to 25 minutes, or until just firm to touch. Stand on trays for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Place melts in a heatproof, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on medium-high (75%) for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds or until smooth. Spoon into a small snap-lock bag. Snip off 1 corner. Pipe faces and buttons onto gingerbread men. Set aside to set.

Yum… ENJOY.

Pink Ink Book Review: Things I Love by Megan Morton

The name pretty much says it all. Things I Love is the second book by talented stylist Megan Morton. It really is a visual treat of inspiration, from divine homes, to inspirational people, to trade secrets... all delivered in a way that is as eclectic as the stylist is herself. It is randomly put together, so each page isn’t the same as the previous and with every turn you find something new that inspires. The book is a celebration of the creative people Megan Morton admires and an opportunity for her to share all the wonderful things she loves.

Just lovely, and just in time for Christmas.

Flat is back...

Forget tower heels... Flats are back and better than ever. Perfect for scurrying away from awkward situations or making a beeline for the last piece of chocolate. The sandal is our new friend this Summer. We’ll enjoy long walks on the beach, plenty of shopping without tired feet and they don’t mind being walked on.
Here are two of our favourites from Pedro Garcia... Paired with a Christian Lacroix purse and Rachael Ruddick clutch... This friendship is blossoming.

The new floral...

We know it might sound cliché, florals for spring. ‘How original’ we hear you say. However this season designers have a new take on the typical pretty flower print. It has attitude, spunk and embraces tough femininity... It’s a tropical, floral explosion... and as seen on labels such as Trelise Cooper, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana and Diane Von Furstenberg – prints are bold and strong.
The must have wardrobe essential this season is definitely the floral blazer. We are loving the new tropical print blazer by Trelise Cooper...

Mad Madame... Juliette Has a Gun

The new scent by perfumer Romano Ricci, owner of the perfume label ‘Juliette Has a Gun’, is definitely a scent not for the young and innocent. It’s for the woman who has lived, who has gone a little crazy from all her experiences and isn’t afraid to show that off.

When creating his latest scent ‘Mad Madame’, Romano thought about Oscar Wilde’s words - “There is only one thing worse than being talked about, that is not being talked about.” He wanted the Madame to be making a spectacle... She loves to create attention and draw it to herself. You will never see the Mad Madame in the advertisement, you will only see the reaction others have to her. She creates a scene and has people asking ‘Who the hell is she?’ ...This perfume isn’t about the romance, it’s about the cheeky game.

Organic Beauty...

When it comes to beauty, Miranda Kerr has proven that true beauty really is more than skin deep. She has made her mark on the fashion industry and is counted as one of the top 10 models in the world. So what is it that makes her shine? According to Miranda, it’s all about health and wellbeing. Treating your body with respect, meditating, yoga and trying to only eat organic. So it made sense that when the Australian beauty couldn’t find a natural and organic skin care range that she was satisfied with, she decided to create her own. The result is KORA Organics, a reflection of her passion for living a healthy, organic lifestyle. A beauty range made from 100% certified organic ingredients infused with rich Noni, essential fatty acids, herbal extracts, essential oils and vitamin A, C and E along with many other highly rejuvenating and replenishing ingredients that are designed to nourish, replenish and re-hydrate the skin. The range is used by the model herself... Now that’s encouraging, and well, if it’s good enough for the gorgeous Miranda Kerr, we think that speaks volumes.

The delightfully creative and ever so original, Lisa Twomey has been the resident artist at Pink Ink for many years now. Her creative hand has touched the walls of Pink, turning white walls into mural works of art. Her latest collaboration has seen her create a collection of unique, one-off pieces of furniture using vintage finds that she has put her paintbrush magic to. It’s fashion, meets art, meets interior wonder-pieces. Once a piece enters your home, the energy it brings will make you wonder why you waited so long to get your hands on a Lisa T original.

Fashion's Night Out...

Last night was the night... Vogue’s Fashion Night Out in Sydney. Originally started by Anna Wintour in 2009 to encourage people to spend up big during the Global Financial Crisis. Now it's an event not to be missed.
It is the night women all over the world had been waiting for... That one night a year when you treat yourself and indulge in a fashion event that really should make it into the Shopping Olympics... with its high energy and athletic pace, women all over Sydney gathered in the CBD to start the fashion race. One night of intense retail therapy, not for the faint hearted. Sydney’s most beautiful fashionistas roamed the streets in search of Mulberry, Miu Miu, Burberry, and everything in-between; and enjoyed champagne and treats along the way... Literally shop 'till you drop.
The night was launched by Miranda Kerr and Sarah Murdoch with entertainment from Jessica Mauboy... Fashion heaven really.
