An inspiring hue. . .

We love inspiring interiors........ So when we read the book ‘Hue’ by the talented American interior designer Kelly Wearstler, we had to share some of the images that inspired us. It was hard to pick just a few....... The beautiful coffee table book is full of the most amazing interiors that have been styled by Kelly.

Her style is opulent, modern yet elegant and just that little bit too much. Kelly is known for her bold colour choices and she loves to incorporate antique pieces in to modern design. Perhaps this influence came from her mother who was a decorator and antique dealer........

Marchesa the Muse. . .

Marchesa Luisa Casati (1881 – 1957). . . Born in Italy to a life of luxury. Flamboyant, eccentric, scandalous. . . Everywhere Marchesa went she commanded attention, she was a muse to famous artists, making her one of the most painted women of all time. Marchesa has been an inspiration to modern day designers, such as Karl Lagerfeld, Tom Ford and John Galliano.

She adorned live snakes as jewellery. Took naked strolls in the evenings, the only thing covering her body were her furs while she walked her pet cheetahs on leashes. Many people at the time speculated whether she was a goddess, vampire or just a madwoman.

Quoted as saying “I want to be a living work of art.” Be inspired and mesmerised by her piercing green eyes with huge false lashes, pale skin and flaming hair. Totally unique and completely outrageous. . . And we love a bit of outrageous.

Intrigued? Check out the book ‘The Marchesa Casati: Portraits of a Muse’........

Hats off to Cynthia. . .

Many women admire our Governor-General Quentin Bryce for her poise, grace and style. She is also known for wearing stunning hats that always compliment her outfits so beautifully. But who is the lady behind all the hats? That would be Canberra Milliner, Cynthia Bryson.

Cynthia is known internationally for creating hats that are the ultimate in beauty and style. Her hats have stood out in events such as the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, Royal Ascot and recently at 'The Royal Wedding' between Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey.

A labour of love, Cynthia creates her designs by hand. Each creation thought-out and superbly crafted, so even when the event is over you can put it on display and enjoy its beauty.

Cynthia’s reputation is not only for her fashion headwear but also for the historical reproductions she has created for exhibitions at The National Library, Old Parliament House and The National Portrait Gallery.

Actress Hedda Hopper once said "I can wear a hat or take it off, but either way it's a conversation piece."
Cynthia’s designs are definitely a conversation piece and are available directly form her studio in Jerrabomberra, Escala in Manuka and soon from selected boutiques in Melbourne. She is happy to make your special occasion (wedding, cocktail party, day at the races or just a day out) even more special with a bespoke piece.

There is no doubt that her innovative approach and insistence on quality let the finished creations speak for themselves.

I spy with my little eye. . .

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with. . . K

Unpretentiously chic, effortlessly stylish. . . All of Karen Walker’s Fashion and Eyewear collections celebrate the anti-‘it girl’ taking ‘the outsider’ as their inspiration. Not a hipster or scenester in sight.

The Karen Walker style was described by the U.K.‘s Independent newspaper as being “the kind of look that provides a means of appearing cool but not trying-too-hard, cute but not saccharine, alternative but not self consciously so. The fact that these clothes [and eyewear] appear to be so totally not ‘fashion’ is what makes them so now”.

At Pink we are a little obsessed with the newest collection of KW Eyewear. Boasting colourful frames, unique designs that still frame the face in a very flattering way AND most importantly combining functionality with style. . . KW Eyewear doesn’t just make a pretty face; all sunglasses also provide maximum U.V. protection.

The latest collection of KW Eyewear is now available at Pink. . . Channel your inner ‘outsider’ and rock a pair of KW sunglasses.
